STORY OF TRANSFORMATION

Fatima Khan

Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Pakistan

From Housewife to Tech Entrepreneur

How a mother of two from Gulshan-e-Iqbal built a successful e-commerce business and now employs 15 women from her community.

Fatima Khan’s journey began in 2022 when she was a stay-at-home mother struggling to make ends meet in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. With two young children and limited financial resources, she felt trapped in a cycle of dependency. Everything changed when she discovered our Digital Skills Training program through a community workshop in her neighborhood. Despite initial resistance from family members who questioned the value of ‘computer work’ for women, Fatima persevered. She attended evening classes while her children slept, learning everything from basic computer skills to advanced e-commerce management. Within six months, she launched her online boutique selling traditional Pakistani clothing with a modern twist. Today, her business ‘Pakistan Couture’ generates over PKR 500,000 monthly and employs 15 women from her community, providing them with flexible work-from-home opportunities. Fatima has become a beacon of hope in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, proving that with the right support and determination, any woman can transform her life and uplift her community.
